Revolutionizing Compact Living: Kitch' T by Irena Kilibarda

Unveiling a Compact Kitchen Design that Marries Functionality and Aesthetics

Introducing Kitch' T, a compact kitchen design by Irena Kilibarda of dsignedby that redefines contemporary living. This innovative design, inspired by the desire to create interaction and cohesion in living spaces, is a testament to the transformative power of design in everyday life.

The Kitch' T stands out for its unique properties. Crafted to fit the dimensions of a Corian DuPont board, this kitchen isle is devoid of handles, offering a tactile experience with its 3D solid Red Oak wood doors. It is equipped with a Corian mobile charger built into its surface, along with electrical and USB sockets. The design is not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional, easily connecting to water and electrical supplies.

The realization of this design involved the use of Corian DuPont, a high-end, sustainable material often used in various environments, including homes, retail, and medical facilities. The material is manually cut, prepared, and glued with Corian liquid glue before being programmed for cutting and forming the 3D structure of the table. The final sleek result is achieved through manual polishing with five different granulations of the abrasive.

With dimensions of 365cm x 92cm x 90cm, the Kitch' T is compact yet fully equipped. The base units are 60cm high, and the total cabinets length is 235cm. The worktop and Table T area are made out of 12mm Illumination Corian DuPont, while the element fronts are made of solid Red Oak oil tanned wood of thickness 2.2cm. The design accommodates electrical installation on one side and water installations on the other.

The Kitch' T is designed for interaction. With a seating area that can comfortably host three people for a meal, it is a perfect spot for fostering friendship after long working hours. The elements with built-in Bosch appliances are only 80cm wide and are in use from both sides, making every space of this compact kitchen functional.

This design project began in November 2015 in Belgrade, Serbia, and was completed in January 2016. The Kitch' T was first exhibited at the imm Cologne furniture fair later that month. The design faced challenges, particularly in ensuring functionality in the compact space. However, these challenges were overcome, resulting in a kitchen design that is not standard but uniquely tailored to fit the shape of Table T.

In recognition of its innovative design, Kitch' T was awarded the Platinum A' Furniture Design Award in 2016. This prestigious award recognizes world-class, exceptional, and highly innovative designs that contribute to societal wellbeing. The Kitch' T is indeed a testament to the transformative power of design, showcasing how it can redefine spaces and improve everyday living.
